Beautiful Dominican Republic Weather

One of the things that attracts people to DR is the Dominican Republic weather. Glorious sunshine, blue skies and gentle, warm tropical breezes are amongst the things that keep visitors coming to this part of the world year after year. Have you been here yet?

Having a GREAT time on the beach in the Dominican Republic

I don't know about you, but when I head off on vacation the last thing I want to see is grey skies, dreary horizons, pouring rain and icy winds. Most of us are eager to head off to a destination that will give us the opportunity to relax, unwind, soak up the warmth and bask in the sunshine —oh, and of course get a fabulous tan that will be the envy of my friends!

When you head to the Dominican Republic you will be in for a treat when it comes to the weather. When you hear that this destination is nicknamed "the Island of Endless Summer" you pretty much know that wonderful weather is one of many things that you will have to look forward to.

If you're anything like me, the weather is something that will play a big part in what you do whilst you're on vacation and how much you enjoy the vacation. After all, who wants to jet off to a destination and then just sit in a hotel room and watch the rain pour down? What we want when we go on vacation is to be able to lie back on a golden beach, look up at the blue skies and have the golden rays of sunshine bouncing off our rapidly tanning bodies AND getting loads of vitamin D!

Going out and exploring is also far more enjoyable if you are immersed in warmth and sunshine, which means that you can really make the most of exploring this beautiful island.

What you can expect when it comes to the weather

No matter what time of the year you visit the Dominican Republic you will be able to enjoy relatively consistent, high temperatures. Of course, there are other factors that you will need to take into consideration when you're planning your trip—after all, you don't want to get your timing wrong and end up caught in a hurricane! Some of the things to bear in mind when it comes to Dominican Republic weather includes:

  • You will be able to enjoy temperatures of around 77 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year with highs of around 87 degrees during the daytime in the summer months
  • Tourism tends to be centered outside of the summer months, which is when many people from colder countries flock to the island to escape their cold weather and lap up the warmth of the Dominican Republic. The busiest time, and therefore the island's peak season, is from December until April
  • The most rainfall in the Dominican Republic is seen in May, but we don't tend to get long bouts of rain. Instead, we get short bursts of rain followed by sunshine, which is often the case in tropical destinations
  • Of course, you don't want to risk getting caught up in a hurricane so it is worth bearing in mind that hurricane season starts in June and lasts until the end of November, with August and September being the months when the most effects are experienced by the island

By getting your timing right and planning your trip at the perfect time of year, you can look forward to lapping up the glorious Dominican Republic weather and enjoying a wonderful vacation in this little piece of paradise!
